Please reach us at sunvillageseniorcare@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We are an adult family home owned and managed by a Registered Nurse providing elderly care in a home like environment. Sun Village is licensed to provide care to elderly who need physical help or who have cognitive impairment such as dementia. We provide care ranging from some assistance needed all the way through end of life including help with toileting, showering, dressing, eating, artificial feeding such as tube feeding, differing mobility level from walker to bed bound, medication management, companionship and so on. The goal is to be comfortable while receiving excellent care staying in a home like setting until end of life, ultimately passing away here.
The choice depends on the needs of your loved one. For example, if your loved one or the person you are trying to help is quite independent physically and cognitively aware, able to self-initiate participation in activities/meals and to call for help/able to wait for a long time since due to staffing ratios it does take some time for help to arrive and is a low fall risk, then I definitely recommend an assisted living at this time! However, if they are not as described above, then a small home-like environment where close supervision, cueing, fast response/anticipation of care needs is provided, and good care provided due to excellent staffing ratios is recommended as the best place to meet the care needs for your loved one or the person you are helping!
There are 2 to 3 hands-on caregivers during the day shift and 1 at night. In addition, there is a Registered Nurse who lives on site. We take care of a maximum of 6 individuals at a time so we can keep our staffing ratios very good.
1. We are experienced with over 20 years in geriatric care including 7 years as a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting which has provided me (Lorraine) with both hands-on care experience and medical nursing assessment ability to closely monitor and manage multiple medical/care concerns an individual may have.
2. We are not absentee owners, we live on site and are actively involved hands-on in care as an additional helper to the other staff already on shift. This allows us to know and assess that each individual has good quality of life and is receiving great care by closely supervising our staff.
3. Good reputation with family members (we provide you with references from them) and good clear routine inspections from Department of Health and Social Services
4. We have all inclusive pricing to include incontinence supplies, nurse delegation/assessment and medical equipment such as hospital bed, air mattress, walkers, wheelchairs, lift equipment such as hoyer lift.
Working with medical insurance:
Routine medication delivery directly to the home, same day delivery as needed to have medications in a timely manner. A company will come out to do mobile blood draws and x-rays. Home health visiting services such as Wound nurse, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech Therapists. Visiting podiatrist, and geriatric doctor routinely on site and often same day phone response to concerns.
Additional fees if desired, not covered by insurance: Visiting hair dresser/manicurist and Dentist
No, we do not. We will help coordinate and prepare the resident for outings. If residents are interested in outings, we leave this up to the family to do with them while we do activities in the home throughout the day both individual and group.
Yes. Hospice becomes appropriate at end of life and there are many excellent hospice services locally such as Evergreen Hospice.
We are experienced and have a lot of measures in place to prevent falls such as non-video motion alarms, fall mats and close supervision (which we are easily able to provide in a home type setting). Most facilities have a policy to call 911 if a resident falls regardless of any injuries and to not move resident until 911 comes. However, our on-site nurse will assess resident if a fall occurs first to determine if 911 is necessary.
We provide 3 meals a day with snacks in-between. We have a 2 week rotating menu and provide home cooked meals. Being a small environment it is easy for us to learn the likes and dislikes of the residents and accommodate them as we want meals to be enjoyed and residents to feel like they are home. Different dietary needs such as diabetic, low salt cardiac diet, tube feeding and so on are accommodated.
We encourage families and friends to visit! Our front door is kept locked to protect the vulnerable adults who live here, but just ring the doorbell! There are certain times of the day which are very busy times such as the morning getting up times/bedtime and meal times. During these times, we respectfully ask visitors to not visit unless no other time is possible because some of the residents are highly distracted by visitors and tend to not follow cueing/direction or eat well if distracted. Thank you!
We charge a monthly rate for each resident based on the nurse assessment which documents in detail all the care needs an individual has which will be used to determine which care level the individual falls into ranging from Level 1 to Level 4. The monthly rate is an INCLUSIVE rate covering food, room, all care needs, personal care items such as shampoo, lotion, incontinence products, wipes, and gloves. It is a monthly rate, not a point or itemized charge system. Unfortunately, we are unable to work with state pay Medicaid program from admission
If we have an opening, then the first step is to discuss the details of the needs of your loved one or the person you are helping with Lorraine. After this, Lorraine will go in-person to visit the individual to determine if Sun Village Senior Care is a good fit for your loved one. If yes, a deposit form will be filled out to hold the room until move-in.
If we do not have an opening and your need to move is not urgent, then we will put you on a waitlist and update you when we anticipate an opening. If you are not able to wait, then we may refer you to other places.
